Shortly after I posted this article on Examiner.com about Tokidoki’s year long 10th Anniversary celebration. They announced both a new line of Onitsuka Tiger shoes and another Barbie collaboration! I have plenty of shoes even though I really liked some of the new designs, particularly the Serrano ones. I still have several other Tokidoki shoes (including a couple of the older Onitsuka Tiger line), so I wasn’t exactly jumping to buy them.
It’s always a tough thing to narrow down what you want, but it’s easier when one is impossible to get. Anyways, I ended up ordering the Black Label 10th Anniversary Barbie (pink haired doll) before it sold out. Just finding the link to the site was going to be tough and it was limited to only 999. I also heard the Platinum label Tokidoki Barbie sold out in 5 (or 15 minutes) and both dolls are now sold out on Barbie’s website (and Tokidoki’s site).
I’m going to assume it was impossible to buy without some insider info. I had some slight regrets on not getting the original Tokidoki Barbie (Gold Label). It came out in 2011 since I attended the launch event in Santa Monica. Soon after, the dolls started appearing on ebay at exorbitant prices. That really made me think I should have gotten at least one since I was there.
Anyways, I’m more interested in keeping the Black Label doll no matter how much more expensive it gets because it’s worth keeping something you know you’ll love. Though I am sad about missing out on the Platinum Label, I know some things are not meant to be. I will just have to live without her. Side by side comparison makes the Platinum Label look very pale. Dare I say, a bit goth? I was going to call her goth Barbie, but maybe that could be a future Barbie seeing as how limited this one was.
