This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the signing event of one of my favorite artists Simone Legno, Italian creator of the Japanese inspired lifestyle brand Tokidoki. The event took place at Eilatan, a shoe store at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. I was not sure about buying a pair of the new tokidoki for Onitsuka Tiger shoes, simply because they do cost a bit more than your normal run of the mill sneakers. They are far from normal shoes. For those of you who like bright colorful graphics and youthful designs, these are the shoes for you.
For this last line of tokidoki x Onitsuka Tiger shoes, women have the option of low top and high tops shoes. Men only have the high tops, which are also a bit more than the low tops ($100 vs $120 on tokidoki.it). I ended up going with the Manga/Black low top women’s shoes, which feature a very cool print all over with a black stripe running across the sides. Tokidoki and Onitsuka Tiger characters run inside and on the bottom of the shoes. I replaced the white laces that came on the shoes, with dark pink laces included in the package. Here are some photos of how mine look with the pink shoelaces:
