Guide to Understanding Life in New England

Have you ever traveled to a new area and felt like you have traveled to a completely different world? If you’ve never been to New England, you may feel this way during your first visit. Before you decide to move to a New England state, we have a few pointers for you.

There’s Always Something To Do

Throughout the northern states, you’ll find some of the biggest cities you’ve heard of are Boston, Portland, Concord, Warwick, and Rochester. In bigger cities, there tend to be more fun activities or attractions. If you’re looking for food or brews, you can find plenty in the Boston area. Catch a game at Fenway Park and stop at The Daily Catch to grab some grub afterward. Boston loves their beer, so you won’t have a hard time finding a bar to hang at. Check out Tam or Biddy Early’s.

If your interests are more in-line with adventuring the great outdoors, Acadia National Park is renowned for being one of the best national parks in the U.S. Much of the northeast is bordered by the ocean which gives you ample beaches to visit. Cape Cod is one of the more popular destinations. Enjoy the salt marshes, gorgeous cliffs dotted with lighthouses, and there’s never a shortage of sunsets.

For bikers and hikers, there is plenty of land to be traversed. Mohawk Trail in Massachusetts, East Bay Bike Path in Rhode Island, and the Farmington River Trail in Connecticut are just some examples of popular locations for these activities. The whole family would enjoy a stop at the Roger Williams Park Zoo in Rhode Island. They have been open for 150 years and are home to over 150 animals from around the world.

Safe Neighborhoods and Great Schools

Many Ivy League schools are located in the New England States. Yale, Harvard, and Dartmouth are all in New England. Public schools in each region rank high on the national scale as well. The best schools are generally in the suburbs of the larger cities. We recommend checking out Dover, New Hampshire, Kingston, Rhode Island, Montpelier, Vermont, and Worcester, Massachusetts. These areas are all close to larger cities for convenience but are more residential without the hustle and bustle.

If you’re looking for diversity within your neighborhood, look into Worcester apartments for rent. Montpelier is perfect for families. The neighborhoods rank highly for safety and they have exemplary school districts. Kingston has these features too plus a bit more of a nightlife scene to enjoy. And Dover rounds the list out nicely with excellent dining and nightlife.

Many young families like to look to places on the outskirts of cities so they can work in the bigger metropolitan areas if necessary but can get the small-town schooling they desire for their children. New England is comprised of 6 amazing states that offer so much for those looking to settle down. Additionally, many parents love the idea of being close to their children that are hoping to attend one of the Ivy League schools in the area.

Every Season is Present

If you’re a big fan of the other seasons besides winter and summer, you’ll enjoy New England life. The climate of most of the New England states is cold and snowy winters and warm, sunny summers. The southern coastal cities see more of a subtropical climate. But every area does experience all four seasons, even if some of the Springs and Falls end up being quite rainy.

However, one cannot deny the fall foliage of New England is one beautiful sight. It’s so popular that many photos of New England are in the autumn and feature the changing leaves of this time of year. Our favorite part of New England is the scenic coastlines coupled with the rich history of the land. So not only do you get fantastic views, you’re learning about our nation in the process.

Ultimately, this just scratches the surface of what New England has to offer. You’ll have to plan your trip to these states to see for yourself. Any of the New England states would be a great place to call home and begin a new family. But don’t take our word for it, book your trip today to witness the beauty for yourself.
