Valentine’s day and your anniversary don’t have to be the only days in the year when you should express your love. Every day should be a small celebration of your relationship, and it doesn’t have to be very difficult to do it. Simple pleasures, small surprises, and cute gifts will surely show your love and affection.

#1 – Support them

Listen carefully to the small talk they are making through the day. Do they have a hobby or plan on taking up one? Do they dream about having a special book or a geeky souvenir from the TV show they are into? Get it for them and show them that you are a careful listener who recognizes their needs and supports them.

#2 – Pamper them

We all love to be pampered and a bit spoiled, but what we love even more is for someone else to spoil us. Spend a day pampering them: massage them, make them coffee, pick their favourite movie, and prepare their favourite dessert. It will certainly melt their heart (and prompt them to do the same for you).

#3 – Surprise them with a meal

Depending on how hectic your schedules are, you can surprise them with a sweet morning breakfast, delicious lunch, or tasty dinner. If you are more of a morning person, get up early and prepare a simple breakfast (a couple of eggs and a cup of coffee are all it takes). It will put a smile on their face from the early morning. If, however, you are very busy until nightfall, prepare a simple and tasty dinner you can enjoy over a glass of wine.

#4 – Go out on a date

If the two of you care for each other, you will feel comfortable and safe in each other’s company. To bring back some of that youthful fire from your early weeks and months of dating, go out on a date and try to get to know each other all over again. Talk about the simplest things: favourite colours, food, music, childhood, and see how much you have changed from your first date to the point you’re at now.

#5 – Go on an adventure

You don’t have to be a hobbit and wait until you’re fifty to go on an adventure. Pick a sunny day, pack your bags, and go to the beach.  Pick a few friends, get yourself a couple of stand up paddleboards and find a secluded beach where you can brush up on your skills of riding the waves. Everything is much more fun with a bunch of friends.

#6 – Write them a letter

When was the last time you got a real, hand-written letter? Sit one day and write a letter to your significant other. It doesn’t matter if you live together, this is a small act which will definitely put a smile on their face.

#7 – Have a picnic

Summer is here, so why not use the wonderful weather and have a fun day in nature? Pack a wicker basket and a white tablecloth (like in the movies), and prepare sandwiches, fruit, and lemonade (or wine if you like it more). You don’t have to go to the countryside, go to the beach and enjoy sunset.

#8 – Make a collage

Take some of your old photos and other memorabilia: cinema and concert tickets, shells, leaves, and dried flowers and make a collage to show off your love and celebrate all of your wonderful memories. It can be something small to stand on the desk in their office, or a big one which will decorate the wall of your place.

#9 – Write them a poem

While this may sound like something difficult, but you can find simple guidelines on the internet about how to write a poem. Capture a moment or celebrate your love in a poem dedicated to your beloved. Of course, you can always take an existing poem and rewrite it so that includes details from your life.

#10 – Get goofy

Have a goofy day just for you: make funny photos with ridiculous faces, talk in codes, giggle and pinch each other while walking the streets. Pet every dog you run into and go to the cinema to watch a cartoon with a bunch of kids.

Making someone you care for happy is not such a difficult thing, you don’t have to spend a lot of money or even too much time. What is important is to show your feelings and show clearly how much you care about them with little things; it will make all the difference.
