Macatier – The Outside World EP

I was pretty excited when I first heard this ‘upbeat acoustic’ EP by a young London based musician Dan Brown, who goes by Macatier when performing. The single “Dopamine” reminded me of a stripped down Wonder Stuff (just acoustic guitars, with a slight snarl on the vocals). “Collision” is a slightly slower song with an anthemic feel and some interesting guitar work.

I’m not sure if “Blood Red Shoes” refers to the band, but I found the open space between the music pretty interesting as well as the build up to the chorus.  “Radio Silence” is a quieter song that maintains the listener’s interest with just acoustic guitar.  Macatier manages to create a lot of catchy pop songs with just an acoustic guitar and his distinctly British vocals.
