Anime Expo 2010
This year’s Anime Expo was really awesome, my first time in a long time of going and boy has it changed! I went back in 1992 when it was still in Anaheim and it was only 1 day. Now it’s 4 days long at the Los Angeles Convention Center and so many people cosplay. Next year is the 20th Anniversary of AX and I already registered for it! I really lucked out this year by finding a really good place to stay for a low price, and it’s fairly close to the convention center. For now, I’m keeping it a secret since I may want to stay there next year.
I watched so many great Anime titles, including Robotech, Ouran High School Host Club, Eureka Seven, Nana, Excel Saga, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Devil May Cry, Hellsing Ultimate, Evangelion, Samurai Champloo, and Death Note. I also watched the Anime Music Videos for all the categories except professional, which I would have wanted to see if I didn’t need to go to the bathroom. When we weren’t watching Anime, we were walking through the Exhibition Hall buying Gundam models and cute T-shirts from Spicy Brown.
We also went to a few panels (Gundam and Danny Choo), as well as the Danny Choo/Fakku meet up at ESPN Zone, where we had some tasty food. This is the first time I’ve stayed and hung out in Downtown LA for so many days in a row, so it was a really cool experience being there. I also enjoyed seeing the many unique and interesting costumes that many of the AX attendees were wearing. Cosplay is not something I ever got into, but I can see why so many people enjoy it. Though it might have cost me my job, I am happy that I went to AX and I look forward to going next year!
